There is no difference in the material of the production of standard and professional reeds. But the Professional goes through a final selection. Intonation, articulation, appearance plays a major role in selecting the professional oboe reed. Ke-Xun Ge called the educated Chinese oboist and “reed-maker”, a resident of Australia who puts the finishing touches on these tubes, which goes by the name; KGE-Reeds.
