How to Choose the Right Strength:
Reed strength refers to the resistance of the reed when vibrating.

1½ – 2
Very easy response – ideal for beginners, younger players or maximum comfort -
2½ – 3
Balanced resistance offering control, flexibility and projection (most common choice) -
3½ – 4
Increased resistance for greater stability and projection – suited to advanced players
💡 Tip: Changing mouthpieces can affect the ideal reed strength. Many clarinetists use different strengths depending on repertoire or playing situation.
